Shuswap Lakes Vacations Inc.
(AKA – Twin Anchors Houseboat Vacations)

At Shuswap Lakes Vacations Inc. (SLVI) AKA Twin Anchors Houseboats, also referred to as the company, we consider it a privilege to provide you with a service and at the same time ensure your personal information is protected. While providing this service, we must collect and utilize personal information provided by our customers.  Our privacy policy has been developed in compliance with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (“PIPA”) guidelines.  B.C.’s P.I.P.A. sets out rules for how companies such as ours may collect, use and disclose your personal information.

Collection of Information

The personal information collected will be maintained in a secure environment and not be disclosed to any other person, group or agency without prior approval of the customer. 

The information is necessary to collect and process payments for products and/or services purchased.

  • • To verify identity – name, address, telephone numbers, driver’s license, email address and any other information that may be required to obtain payments in relation to business services within the company.

Using and Disclosing Personal Information

Customers should also understand information provided that is also available through public sources will not be considered protected.  We will only use or disclose customer’s personal information where necessary to satisfy the purposes for which it was collected.  This information will not be disclosed for any additional purposes unless prior consent from the customer is received.

Retention of Personal Information

Personal information obtained will be retained for the minimum time period as required by law for record retention and is available upon written request by the customer.  Office procedures are in place to ensure security of those details and that only those cleared have access to such information. 

All documents containing financial or personal information are password protected if electronically processed and hard copies will be physically secured in locked file cabinets and alarmed storage facilities.

Customers have a right to access their personal information, with limited exceptions.

  • • Disclosure would reveal personal information of another individual
  • • Solicitor-client privilege
  • • Other supported reasons felt to be reasonable and without prejudice

Should the customer require access to information, the application must be made in writing with sufficient detail to identify the information requested and be processed through the Privacy Officer.

Twin Anchors Employee Information

Personal information such as resumes, assessments and financial documentation are retained by Twin Anchors Houseboats as a result of their status as employer.  All information is treated as confidential and will not be provided to individuals not directly related to the purpose of retention. 

Persons eligible for access to the aforementioned documentation would be:

  • • General Manager
  • • Human Resources Manager
  • • President
  • • Payroll Officer – Financial records only
  • • Supervisors – Assessments only of those personally supervised

Release of Information

Employees of Twin Anchors Houseboats will be contacted regarding release of personal information requests prior to allowing the release.  Employees are requested to provide the company with details if they are aware an outside agency intends on requesting personal or financial information.

When you book your vacation at twinanchors.com, you are added to our email list that will be used to contact you occasionally with offers that we feel will be of interest to you. If you do not want Twin Anchors Houseboats to contact you with offers, you may withdraw your consent at any time simply by changing your profile information and opting out of any or all of the email offers you no longer wish to subscribe to by clicking on 'email specials' on the homepage. If you later change your mind, it is just as simple to opt back in to the email specials of your choice.
